Summary: First room I was given had bedbugs crawling on me before I even got under tbe blankets, was then given a new room.

Summary: The floor was dirty I stayed there for 9 days never once they came and gave me fresh trashbag never empty my trash air conditioner needs to be cleaned bed was comfy but the cover and sheet had burnholes all over never asked me if I need some fresh towels room was old bad smell all over all stinking place

Summary: The staff wasn’t at the desk..gunshots across the street.. dirty bathroom.. smoke smell inside.. it was like a room in a drug deal movie.. seriously.

Summary: They don't provide hair dryer, the kitchen is nice and remodeled but the hotel does not not provide neither a coffee machine or toaster. The hotel have an ice machine in the alley but they disconnect it some nights. No extra blankets or pillows. Bathroom towels were very thin and cheap. If you like to have a cheap hotel, this is for you. For me I should have expected much more for what I paid for. I requested and was provided a non smoking room however one night the room above ours was occupied and I don't know how but we feel someone was in our room smoking, I waked very congested due to the cigarette smoke in our room. The parking lot was full of junkies at night, every night leaving trash everywhere, definitively don't recommend and will never comeback. For $ 10.00 more a night you can get a lot nicer and better hotels nearby.

Summary: It was my Birthday weekend and I booked a deluxe king room with the kitchenette but ended up with a deluxe king room without the kitchenette. Not only that our room was all the way at the end in a corner where I didn’t feel comfortable. When I went to the front desk to ask about my reservation he told me I booked for a deluxe king without the kitchenette, ok cool but when I asked to change rooms because I didn’t feel comfortable at the end of the walkway he told me they were all booked up and if I have any problems just let him know. Mind you they had more than 8 vacant rooms with the kitchenette on the bottom floor where we were staying and I’m pretty sure more on the 2nd floor. Even without the kitchenette I would have rather had another room but lesson learnt, my first and last time staying at this hotel. I did make the best of my birthday which was Saturday, April 5 and enjoyed myself at the beach while I was down there.

Summary: The James river hotel formally the King James is almost historical in Newport News. The hotel has been through VERY ROUGH times of people it's time in business. Overall it has truly stood the TEST OF TIME. The age of the rooms would be a five on my scale. However other than that I will stay again as I have done for over 40 years. God bless

Summary: Minor problem was a loose sink faucet handle. Only 2 thin bath towels and washcloths - no hand towels, bath mat or shampoo. Parking spaces are a little narrow. Otherwise no complaints.
